Stephen King est régulièrement adapté au cinéma ou à la télévision. À l’écrit comme à l’écran, son univers séduit et reste unique depuis plusieurs décennies. Il y a donc de quoi se perdre ! Heureusement, un ouvrage comme Stephen King at the Movies présente ces passages à l’écran, depuis la première adaptation de Carrie, en 1976, jusqu’aux dernières productions comme Doctor Sleep, It, It : chapter two, Jessie, In the Tall Grass ou la série Castle Rock.
Si Ian Nathan propose un classement des adaptations selon leur qualité en toute fin d’ouvrage, les pages qui constituent son ouvrage sont informatives et ne constituent pas des critiques, c’est appréciable. La plupart du temps, une ou deux pages, toujours accompagnées de photos, permettent de présenter les films ou téléfilms. Pour certains classiques comme The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Shining ou encore Misery, le texte prend un peu plus son temps. Car, tout de même, Stephen King en a mené certains sur le chemin des statuettes !
En somme, que le lecteur soit un adepte des écrits de Stephen King ou qu’il aime simplement le cinéma, il trouvera génial de pouvoir se plonger à tout moment dans ce guide plein de précisions et très inspirant. En tant qu’objet, il est clair et soigné. Le parfait compagnon !
